Bipolar Disorder falls under the umbrella of mood disorder. Previously known as “manic depression”, it manifests in periods of intense euphoria (a.k.a. mania) followed by periods of extreme depression. According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 2% of people have bipolar and it affects men and women equally.
