Concentrates
Concentrates are created through an extraction process. First of all, the extraction process uses a solvent such as butane, propane, alcohol or CO2 to produce a liquid form or a non-solvent extract such as kief, water hash or rosin. This process “extract” specific compounds from the cannabis flower, therefore creating shatter, dabs, waxes or oils. Traditionally, solvent-based extractions result in an oil-like product, allowing for further development.
The goal of this process is to create a more potent form of cannabis. The combination of the extracted cannabinoids and terpenes result in a 90-100% pure THC product. This varies greatly from using the flower itself, which ranges from 15-30% THC. This means users require less cannabis to achieve a greater high. Be careful if you are a first-time user as shatter, dabs and oils tend to pack a punch!
