Welcome To Cannabis: Healing for Life (Demo)

Whether you are someone who is looking for recreational pleasure, relief for a medical condition or just wanting to try it out, cannabis can be an amazing addition to any healthy lifestyle. Most individuals who use cannabis feel that it has helped improve their overall wellbeing. This is due to its many powerful compounds, including THC and CBD, which have a wide range of effects. These compounds are proven to help individuals to manage chronic pain, relieve anxiety and stress, heal depression, get enough sleep and even prevent Alzheimer’s.

Cannabis is Healing for Life

If you are new to cannabis and looking to reap its many benefits, there are a few things you should take note of first in order to ensure the most enjoyable and beneficial experience.

Stick With Friends

If you are thinking about trying cannabis for the first time, do it with someone you trust. Firstly, cannabis is a lot more fun with friends than it is alone. Secondly, it is always nice to have someone you trust nearby in case you are unsure of anything, or get a little anxious as with trying anything new. A friend is a good zone of comfort if you get a little too stoned as well, plus you know they will look out for you. The dealer down the street won’t.

Start Light

This is key. If you are brand new to cannabis, please do not take a 50mg edible or a fat bong hoot. Just don’t. While not everyone will have a bad experience rushing in, a lot of individuals will find themselves overwhelmed with the “high” and may even have some anxiety and paranoia associated to it. I would suggest sharing a joint with a friend for your first time. This is a light and pleasant way to experience cannabis for the first time, and decide if you want to explore it further or not.

You Might Not Get High

I remember the first time I smoked weed. I was sure that I was doing it wrong, because I really didn’t feel much. Later, I discovered that I did not do anything wrong and that it is actually a very common first-timer experience! Are you ready for me to hit you with some science?

The human body has an endocannabinoid system that regulates the release of neurotransmitters and immune functions throughout the body. This system is comprised of two main receptors, CB1 and CB2 receptors. The CB1 receptors are located in the brain and relate to our pleasure centers and the release of feel good neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. The compounds found in cannabis are called “cannabinoids” and are a structured in such a way that allows these compounds to bind to the CB1 receptors in the body – thus resulting in an outflow of neurotransmitters and the feeling of being high.

According to one study, this is caused by low-density and/or low activity of CB1 receptors. However, after just a few uses of cannabis, the CB1 receptor response increases significantly – thereby resulting in the “high”. Some people have a higher density of these receptors naturally, so may feel high on their first toke, but if you don’t – don’t be discouraged! It may take a few tries to activate.

Inhale

The key to a successful smoking experience is to INHALE. Sounds easy enough, right? When you are first starting out, it can be hard to get the hang of it, but once you inhale that first real toke – it is instant! You can feel your eyes droop, your body tingle and sheer relaxation wash over you like a cozy blanket. Just sit back and enjoy it!

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Seriously, hydrate. I cannot stress this enough. While cannabis does not have a lot of side-effects (or serious ones at that), one of the more annoying ones is dry mouth, also known as “cottonmouth”. Plus, there is nothing worse than waking up the morning after a solid stone session and feeling like you have been wandering the desert for days. It is a good idea to sip water while you toke and to keep a glass by your bed in case you do wake up feeling a little dehydrated. The good part is, at least you won’t be hungover! Yay for cannabis.

Clear Your Schedule

Before you get started, it is a good idea to clear your schedule. Most people pass out the first time they get high as cannabis lifts you wayyy up and then slowly cradles you to sleep. Plus, it does take a few times to build up some base tolerance. Just enjoy the ride – and the deep sleep that follows.

Learn Your Limits

This can take some time, but if you are a beginner and already feeling a little fresh off of your first toke, don’t be afraid to pass it along. Just because the saying goes “puff, puff, pass to the left” does not mean you have to “puff puff”. It is important to learn your limits and know when you are in a good position to try and push them, and when you are not.

Cannabis is a wonderful phenomenon that has helped an incredible amount of people overcome their anxieties, depression, chronic pain and even just to help manage their daily life. If you are just starting out, you will have plenty of time to explore the world of cannabis. There is no rush!

Just sit back, have a toke and let this incredible flower put your mind at ease.
